here is the original speech I was supposed to use:
Caladon, gateway to the north, hub of the world, you can find anything from a dwarf barbarian to a high elf wizard wandering its streets. Despite all of the obvious crime that results from this melting pot, it is one of the safest cities in the north, to live in. Also, home to the most prestigious university in the known world, which also holds the greatest library known to all of the races of the world, the library is surprisingly what has caused you to sail to this city. Recently an ancient text was stolen from its walls, Professor Alum, the person who discovered the text not but two weeks ago has hired you to retrieve it, what or wherever it is.
The boat pulls up to the wharf, quickly depositing its embarking passengers. Soon enough your feet carry you into a small pub close to the university. The pub is obviously made to cater to students and faculty alike, multiple tables and gaming areas fill the area between bar and walls. A tall woman waves you over to a table in the corner, a few other people are settled there (description of PCs from players) along with the professor.
note I leave in that I want a physical description of ur characters, please post those on the boards.
So after your arrival in the bar and the town, Professor Alum (your employer) brings you to the site of the theft. After a few quick looks about you found that the second broken window was broken due to someone being thrown through it, and soon enough you saw the body down below you.
A quick inspection of the body revealed that it had been deeply slashed by claws and mutilated. All that was there was a black ring with the symbol of a wolf etched into it. After studying the ring it was obvious it was mass produced, and obviously not a symbol of wealth or status. A citizen passing by offered salutations and in an attempt to pump him for information he became scared and called for the guard. For a short time the guards were unsure to believe you or not, and found your group confusing at best, though Fang Distructoe's quick thinking brought you the savior that was your employer who quickly dispelled thoughts of criminal intent within your party. After a few quick conversations, you learned that the ring bore the symbol of a crime syndicate known as the Dire Wolves who run a hotel casino in the area of the city you currently occupy. Now in the hotel casino you are gathering information learning as much as you can of the mysterious Boris who you assume was the man who had died trying to steal the book.
Just as a side note, descriptions of the places you have gone into:
The room the book was stolen from is a small study area, in which the mahogany table that dominates the room contains multiple items, jeweled wands, small whirring metal devices, and a few other dusty, slightly molded tomes. Three windows looking out towards the area below line the other side of the room, two of which have large man-sized wholes in them.
The hotel casino Wolf Den: Smooth music enters your ears as you enter the hotel common area. Most of the patrons are in gray and red clothing. Just looking around you can tell this is the right place nearly everyone bears a ring that at looks similar to the one you found on the dead body.
