No Paladin isn't really a problem, nor is less people... Anywho, summary of what happened on thursday: After saving Vanessa Paladin of Chiesa and killing the red dragon, the Bard Vrana, Favoured Soul Avi, and Conjurer Brian return to the ruins proper to find the rest of thier intrepid group heading towards a door at the end of the corridor. Inside of the room, were multiple skeletons (including canine skeletons), and after dispatching them, the group made their way into a T-Junction. Here the group split up and headed down different areas. The group consisting of the Samurai Tatsumi, Bard Vrana, Favoured Soul Avi, Sorceress Rain (or whatever here character name is), the Wizard (umm, can't remember Lauren's character name), and the Conjurer Brian entered a room where two werewolves were camping, most likely feeding off of vermin and kobolds, the group was attacked but surprisngly defeated the two with some ease. The other group, overhearing two people speaking about an "it" and a "him" (most likely the book and the people who stole it) decided to investigate. They soon found themselves in a large room, where a group of people (a cleric of Nerull, the Lizardfolk named Muntamba, a dwarf No-Holder who seemed to possess psionic abilities, and a man in an emerald cloak), seemed to be preparing for something. The group was met with stinging words from the cloaked figure and a hail of arrows. As the group converged on Muntamba, the Dwarf unleahed a blast of energy that knocked multiple people unconscious (and Muntamba to death). Now with the Druid brought back to the living, and the cleric of St. Cuthbert running away, the question is, what is so important about this book...

Now informed of the party's problems in dealing with the enemy they found, the rest of the group runs forth! After Vrana the bard died at the hands of the evil cleric Jar, the Dwarf No-Holder allied with the enemy was convinced to work for the party in this battle. Sadly when the Cleric was harmed, a large Thri-Keen Ranger lept from behind a wall of stacked up tables, and began pelting the Dwarf with arrows from his two bows, meanwhile Jar rose from unconsciousness and sliced of the Dwarf's head with his mighty scythe. With this the cloaked figure appeared from behind a wall and called out to the party: How do you think these ruins are being held? By me, of course!, with this the ruins began crumbling, while the enemy (along with the book) teleported away, the party had to scramble off to the surface. When they arrived their the enemy was waiting, he asked "Why they took the long way around..." and then laughed while tossing a black skull at them. While the party regrouped a large group of rat/wolf-like animals appeared and made a play for Vrana's corpse, they were easily defeated. While the group made their way back to the city, they met up with a fighter who had been on her way to the ruins they had just gotten out of. Once back in the city, the group made for the Adventurer's Union complex immediately (mainly so Brian the Conjurer could purchase 200ft of rope...), once their Biran purchased his rope and tehy were off to the Mage's Guild to identify their magical possessions (a wand and a case of potions). After going through the ridiculous system of appointments and payment to the Mage's Guild, they were finally able to learn that they possessed a Wand of Cure Light Wounds, and 10 potions of Cure Light Wounds. Tatsumi, decided to murder the bueracratic mages, by hiding in a room and then stabbing him in their sleep. While the others were performing other duties (such as Brian the Conjurer joining the Mage's Guild) , the mage in question finally fell asleep and Tatsumi attempted to kill him, the attempt failed miserably, with Tatsumi slipping and stabbing the floor. The guards were summoned while Tatsumi tried running away, being trapped by guards and wizards, Tatsumi was arrested for attempted murder and was informed his trial would occur in the morning. Instead of preparing for the trial by studying Caladonian Law, or the better choice hiring a lawyer, the rest of the group (Brian the Conjurer, the Fighter, and Avi, Favored Soul of Pelor), decides to break him out. Seeing that brute force wouldn't work (due to the 5 guards in the room, and wizards in the rest of the building), the group devised a plan to use weapons within the guard armory to allow the prisoners (Tatsumi and a large Half-Orc) to revolt. Sadly, though they were able to gain access to the armory, as they exited and were asked for requisition forms, Avi shot the guard captain, and therefore he and Brian were also arrested. Now the party sits in jail, with the rest of the group outside trying to conduct plans, but what else is afoot in the city of Caladon, while they rest in jail....

With the rest of the party in jail, the unknown fighter goes to the University of Caladon to have Vrana the Bard revived. Once there, the fighter explained what had occured to Professor Alum, and they headed to have the great Doctor Shora` revive her. A former cleric of Thundrak now turned now turned doctor of anatomy, called upon his powerful divine magic to revive the bard. Once revived Vrana was filled in as to what had happened to her comrades, and the fighter after giving her the skull had left. Upon seeing the skull Doctor Shora` identified it as the calling card of the Black Skulls, a small gang operating within Caladon. With this Vrana headed out to help her friends. Remembering that a theatre troop was doing a play set in modern Caladon, Vrana formed a plan to use one of their guard costumes to remove her friends from jail. After a drawn out bargaining phase Vrana promised to pay the actor back for any damage done to the costume, and then she took it and headed towards the Mage's Guild in the guise of a guard. Once there she convinced the Phalanx Commander (A/N: guard behind the desk), that she was there to take the prisoners to the courthouse for immediate trial. He gave her their equipment, and all four of the prisoners (Avi, Brian, Tatsumi and the Half-Orc in black leather). Once outside the Half-Orc pulled Avi down to the ground (the group was linked together chain-gang style), and told Vrana, who still looked like a guard, that tonight she would die. With this, a cadre of men in black studded leather accompanied by 2 skeletons as dark as night appeared from the alleys adjacent to the road and demanded the half-orc Krug, and the guard. Now surrounded, with most of the party chained together, their options are limited, what will they do?....

Battle flared immediately, as the thugs pounced upon the party. As the group struggled, Jim the Druid appeared in the street and threw forth an entanglement spell, entangling most of the thugs, and Tatsumi. As Tatsumi struggled, Avi slid out of the Half-Orc's choke hold, and began throwing forth his divine spells. Meanwhile, the rest of the party soon arrived and began assaulting the enemy. Fang leapt into action by using Jim as a melee weapon and then the limp, lifeless body of a thug as a type of projectile, tossing it 25 feet through the air, and thirty feet high! Once the final thug was vanquished, the party created a funeral pyre for them (well it was more of destroying the evidence...) and burnt away the vines created by Jim's entanglement spell. The party retired at the Adventurer's Union, and in the morning reseached the Black Skulls. Now armed with the information, that the gang hides in the sewers the party is preparing for the next battle...

Mark, you left out the part where Link the Elven Ranger(aka: me, Stephen) fired 4 arrows into that stupid thug that refused to die, and how I rolled a 1 and had my Long Bow snap back on me, which KO'd me for a turn.

In the early morning light the party credeps into the sewer (after Avi was shocked from the magical trap). While most of the group dropped onto a ledge, Jim the Druid lept into a river of crap on the other side of the street. The party quickly heard the steady marching of a sewer patrol, on the look out for smugglers, thieves, and other holligans. While most of the party hid on the opposite sewer ledge, Vrana stayed to convince the guards she was alone and had fell in after a group of smugglers came down. Once informed of this the guards sent her back up and fanned out, crossbows at the ready. The party wizards, and the Ranger were spotted quite quickly, and battle ensured. Avi from his hidden position was able to toss out spells. Jim the Druid crept down into the sewers after he realized standing in crap was not very productive, once inside he attempted to do away with some guards near the entrance but quickly lost the element of surprise. Vrana also attempted to stealthily do away with some guards when she returned but failed as well. Once the guards were dispatched, the group looted them and sold the stuff at the Adventurer's Union, without raising suspicions. In search of magical scrolls, the group refusing to return to the Mage's Guild, located Jarris, an exile of the Fongarth Clan. Once inside the jig dancing, cartoon-like dwarf happily (and crazily) sold the group items, along with teaching Jim his happy jig. Also here they learned of two important magic items, bags of holding and circles of storing (similar to bags of holding but larger and the holder, or person inside can move them about and pop out of it in a cartoon like fashion). Once back inside the sewers the group located very hollow walls and broke into the Black Skull hideout. Some of the thugs quickly captured Jim, and the party convinced them they had come to join the Black Skulls. Sadly Jar, the cleric of Nerull who seemed to be in charge noticed the PCs from the ruins and had them assualted by the guards and blackened skeletons in the large hall. The PCs did battle with the guards (while Jim was beaten with a sword's flat side, and made threatening comments to the rest of the party), when they had disposed of the Skeletons and Thugs, an Umber Hulk Zombie came to assualt them. Thanks to sound bursts created by Vrana the group was able to destroy it quickly. The group entered a study and did battle with Jar and a mummy he had conjured. Link the Ranger, and Bryan's many summonings did battle with the Mummy and struck it. Meanwhile Jar, used his evil powers of inflict wounds to knock Avi unconscious, being healed by one of Vrana's many potions Avi was able to quickly return to battle. Finally, Tatsumi dealt a lethal blow to the Cleric. Now the party stands in a study, with no direction, yet...

The party immediately set out to search the study, as they searched upon the desk they found directions to a set of ruins inside the city itself (dun dun duhn), and found a secret room hidden within one of the bookcases. Inside this room they found a chest filled with gold, a sheathed short sword (the sheath has jewels on it), and a bag contianing some bracelets, a ring, and a halberd (most of the items were magical). As they began to leave the hideout they were confronted by a Warlock, and a figure cloaked in black bearing a short bow, the two said they were sent by Sidithicus to eliminate their party, the two fell away after being injured. Once back on the surface the party sold their loot and made their way to Jarris to identify their items. It turned out the short sword was sharper and stronger than most (+1 short sword), the bag was a large bag of holding, the ring provided its wearer with protection (ring of protection+1), and the Halberd was a mighty dwarven item known as Rumpole's Arm, which allows the holder to fly, and it will occassionaly choose to alert it's holder of traps. With their magic items identified the group set off for the ruins. Once in the ruins the party was attacked by two surprisingly strong and well-armed skeletons. They soon found themselves faced by an undead Thri-Keen Ranger, he engaged them in melee and the party slowly wittled him down. As they hurt him more undead stood and began to bask in the glow of a large pulsating orb above a tall doorway, but when Link's newly found eagle companion destroyed it, these new undead dropped to the ground. Once past this chamber the group was confronted with a Hellish Mastiff (think Cerebrus covered in full plate). They slowly attacked him, he was only able to scorch Avi and Brian once though it heavily injured them, Vrana attempted to harm the beast with her bardic magic but it was too strong and eventually it ended with brute force defeating it. When it did fall, Vran discovered an ornate Wand of Lightning Bolt within it (its power was discovered by using it on the dead body). The party began heading through a circular hallway filled with traps, Vrana attempted to disable them but often failed, the group was also alerted to a gas trap by Avi's halberd. At the end of the corridor the group came upon tall iron gates, once through them they came upon a figure in an emerald cloak and covered in black plate armor calling forth a god of some sort. The god granted the figure what was called the "Staff of Undeadth" and then a group of people swirling about the figure fell t the ground only to rise as mindless Vampires a moment later. The group was soon under attack from the vampires but dispensed with them. Upon them they found a very interesting thing, flyers about The World Fighting Competition which will be held in Caladon very soon. The party soon returned to the surface where they were able to sell the Hellish Mastiff's massive plate mail for a large sum of money. Now the party has little direction or knowledge of the enemy's next move except for the flyers for The World Fighting Competition!

So much experience. So much gold. So much everything else! It was so cool. I pity you all who did not come.

My eagle was mighty! He pecked and scratched the orb until it shattered. Anyway, as Avi said, we got 4500 Gold for the big doggie thing's armor to split amounst the 4 of us(me, Avi, Jesse, and Brian). We got insane amounts of EXP too. I alone leveled up twice(currently Lv 6 Ranger). Mark and Avi kept on laughing when my +10 Dex for rolls to see if I hit something(4 for Dex Modifier, 6 for Base Atk Bonus, and even 6 more when against Undead and Animals) never missed! As long as I got a 2 or higher, I had a good chance of hitting the enemy. Everyone who wasn't there missed Avi soaring through the sky and getting hit by an arrow from a booby trap. We all laughed. ;D
