(not to be confused with the Land of the Lost)
The setting:
1910.
London.
You, the best and brightest scholars and soldiers of Europe, have been called together to Oxford University, to investigate the disappearance of Edward Charles Buckland. Communication with Buckland was lost on an archeological expedition on a high, isolated plateau on the savannahs of Nigeria, one of Britain's prime colonies. His team had been tasked with searching for the bones of the mysterious and ancient dinosaurs. The risks of the expedition were unknown, but it has now fallen to you to attempt to rescue him. Because time is of the essence, you will be flown to your location by a series of dirigibles as well as the more modern fixed-wing airplane. Ultimately, for this mission to be successful, you must recover Dr. Buckland's body or return him safely to his post at Oxford. Good luck, gentlemen (and potentially, ladies).
Technical business:
DnD 3.5, 12th level
Because of the great resources of Oxford University, and their desire to recover Dr. Buckland, you have each received 10,000 pounds sterling (100,000 gp) to prepare for the adventure.
I'd prefer if you didn't use guns because I'm lazy and don't want to make them. But let me know if you do.
Traditionally, the DM accepts blame for any sort of historical inaccuracies. I don't. I've done research, but it won't be perfect.
And, feel free to be totally wacky with the character concepts and construction. You're not limited to humans either.
