OOC: As of Yet Untitled Military Adventure

It's been about 4 years since the United States initiated Operation: Iraqi Freedom, and now that the area is finally coming under some semblance of control with the Iraqi Security Forces nearly a year and a half ahead of schedule the American government is finally taking steps towards controlling threats. Following Bin Laden's flee to Iran in late 2006, the American government has been attempting to enter the country with a sizable force. Now with the UN sanctions finally showing full failure and the Iranian government still being more than willing to pursue Nuclear Technologies, the UN Security Council has finally decided military action is needed. The current Coalition forces have been massing along the Afghanistan/Iran border and Iraq/Iran border for several months now, and the operation is finally ready to begin. The Coalition leader is now recently promoted Lieutenant General Mattis, and he has fully organized all major militaries of the coalition to perform a massive sweep throughout the country hopefully entering Tehran by mid-November.
Following their astounding performance in Iraq, Mattis has once more entrusted the First Marine Recon Division to lead the assault into the country, leading forward in another blazing display of the new "manuever warfare". While a majority of the forces leaving from Iraq will be departing from the souther regions near Al Basrah making their way through the hodge podge of Iranian Highways, First Recon will cut straight through the nation from the Iraqi Capital of Baghdad to Tehran, leaving only liberty in their wake.

Obviously this is a continuation of the Marine Adventure from New Years. It makes a few assumptions about what will occur in the next two years or so that will result in a UN Force invading Iran. I will post the characters (who have gained a level or two) as well as a new commander for the team, as well as a quick little recap on what your characters have been up to over the past few years...

Background: Trombley has been a member of First Recon for several years now, his first action after the completion of his training was leading a team through hostile areas of Afghanistan in search of the ever elusive Osama Bin Laden. When the invasion of Iraq began he was at the head of the column with Alpha Company, his service in Iraq has given him the rank of Lieutenant and now having completed his Officer training in the time between invasions has returned to command the newest company of First Recon, Delta which the original team has now been moved to. He took this group for his personal humvee due to their high service record throughout Iraq and he hopes he will be able to lead them through similar situations in Iran. He is much the idealised Recon Marine, considering himself more a cowboy than anything (growing up in New Mexico only reinforced this image) else, his leadership skills leave much to be desired due to his boldness and of course the position being relatively new to him...


Over the past 4 years the group has served in Iraq in multiple positions while also being circulated back home several times. The team's adventure in Iraq includes dealing with prisoners (at the famous Abu Ghairab prison), patrols through Baghdad, and training groups of Iraqi Security Forces. Though the group has been through alot, including the massive trial involving Former Marine Dan Brown which resulted in his Dishonorable Discharge, it is definately the homefront that has taken the toll on them. The acts not only of the leftist media which seems to ignore most of the Marine's achievements, as well as the government's dodging of facts has left them even more confused than when they originally went in. Now though they have been gearing up for an assault into Iran, recently training has returned them to adjusting back to Humvee activity as well as the traditional Recon work. For the past few weeks the group has been doing patrols in Baghdad, assisting the Iraqi Forces here and there, and of course gearing up for the Iran invasion.

Just as bit more of an enticement and the like, I have "unlocked" the following weapons-

Considering the performance of the Recon Division in previous military campaigns, as well as recent advances in military hardware, and finally the now expected variety of missions expected to be taken on by the Recon Teams a number of weapons has been made open to them to replace current stock or to be carried as backups:

-Mk. 3 Jackhammer Automatic Shotgun: 2d8 Ballistic Damage, 20/x2 Critical, 50ft, Semi and Full Auto settings, 10 slug magazine (backup).
-FN P-90 (per stats in the Apoc boards) for use in urban close counters combat (backup).
-XM8 Assault Rifle: 2d8 Ballistic Damage, 19-20/x2 Critical, 90ft range, 30 round magazine (Replaces M16A2)
Add-ons to the XM8 Assault are it's attachments the XM26 Shotgun (2d8 damage, 20/x2 critical, 45ft range), or the M320 Grenade Launcher (3d6 damage, 20/x2 critical, 80ft)
-OICW Rifle and the Land Warrior System (Weapon and Armor Replacement)
-Desert Eagle (Sidearm replacement)
-Falcon .45 (Sidearm replacement)

For Tynan only I give the option to replace the .50 cal onboard your Humvee with a Mark 19 Grenade Launcher Machine Gun Set-up, it automatically fires off Grenades at a good distance for nice damage.

Yes by 2007, the F-18 will be most likely able to carry a tactical laser does this mean our government will spring the cash for them? No, that takes a lot of congress talking, and since we all know how fast they work...
