I have actually decided against writing a real primer (Unless you guys would really really like one). Instead I'm going to just list these bullet points regarding character creation:
-The miniseries takes place in Chicago, in the Fall of '08. -For all intents and purposes, history has remained the same. -The paranormal does exist, but not everyone believes in it. A major decision regarding your character is whether or not you believe in the supernatural. -If your character does believe in the paranormal, please decide whether or not they just believe in it, have interacted with it, or are actively apart of the paranormal as this requires more information that I have and can send you. -If your character does not believe in the paranormal, decide exactly how little they believe: are they actively against the idea, have they seen some things they just don't want to think about, or could they be easily swayed.
The miniseries will open up with a crime at the University of Chicago so please attempt to either connect yourself to civil services (Police, Firefighters, EMTs, etc), the Campus (Students, Alumni, Professors, etc.). If you feel like you don't want to fit into any of those positions, IM me and we'll work in a connection to the story in another way.

Dibs on the nerdy student who believes in aliens and carries a camera with him at all times in case he ever encounters one! (So, guess smart hero)
What level and all that stuff?

Oh, my last final is at 11 on Friday, so if we wanted to meet then I'd be good for 2PM or so.

I'm thinking of starting us at 2nd, because then in like a session or two you guys can go into some advanced classes, and we'll end at a reasonable level (with possibility for continuations). Feel free to flesh out your backgrounds as you desire. And as a reminder I have plenty of information that you guys can ask about.

Alright, what would you say is the Purchase DC on an iPhone? My geek's gotta have the latest gizmos and whatnot. Constant access to the internet means he can upload his "alien videos" to Youtube just seconds after fliming. Heh.

I don't have my d20 Modern book on hand, but it'll be somewhere between a cell phone and laptop. On a completely different note: I'd prefer to stick to more of a fantasy angle rather than aliens and the like.

Well, a cell phone's a 9, and a laptop's a 23, so does a 17 or 18 sound fine?
Fine by me, let's say he believes in Bigfoot and the like instead.
And obviously, I have computer use, repair, craft and knowledge skills, so no worries with those. Yes Avi, you can still be the driver.

First off, big foot and the like, are easily considered along the lines of aliens. They practically go hand n hand on any "are they real" kind of show on sci fi. Secondly, you can still believe in aliens and that kind of stuff, just like any other person would. You could just be thinking the paranormal things going on in chicago are due to aliens, or yu could also believe in the paranormal activity as a completely different situation, or you could use the paranormal activity as a reason why aliens should also exist. Don't just change your character because there might not actually be any aliens. And lastly, I don't think Avi has actually checked the boards since we've started using them again. Besides, I'm an EMT, I'll probably be driving an ambulance. Avi can be the secondary driver this time around.

Ah, true. Aliens are to blame for everything.
Got some good rolls here: 17, 16, 15, 12, 12, and 10. Int, Dex, Wis, Str, Con, and Cha, in that order. Will think of a backstory soon. Only picked out a cheap gun and left armor out to further the weak little computer nerd thing.
Avi could be some nutty student who does road races instead of studying, cause he always has to drive the car. At least, he thinks so. Besides, I think you'd be busy fixing up anyone who is in critical condition in the EMt, anyway. Guess since my character has all the Knowledges, I'll take some basic knowledge of the medical stuff to assist.

Good point Brian, there is no reason why Steve's character can't believe in aliens and the like. Though as a sidenote, I am intending this to lead more towards fantasy things like: ghosts, vampires, werewolves, zombies, etc. This does not rule out aliens and such, but they probably won't come up in this miniseries. Second: Steve since when did we ever roll 10s, 11s or higher, as always. Also: WHY WOULD A STUDENT HAVE A GUN AND ARMOR?!!!
Just because you as a player know there's going to most likely be combat doesn't mean your character, a student at a university, should be packing heat.

Right, right. No 10s.
What if Bigfoot and the aliens attack? Not all supernatural beings are friendly, movies have taught us that. Gotta be prepared. Plus, what if the other students make fun of him so much that he has to take maters into his own hands? Young punks these days gotta learn their lessons the hard way, since the law is damn stupid and their parents can't be bothered to parent them.
It's a dangerous world out there, I tells ya!

I'm feelin' skeptical detective from the police department. I'll be able to drive, too, so don't count me out of that

Told ya, Brian.
Make that Cha an 11, the Gaming Gods don't favor me, so they only gave me the bare minimum there.
But I don't have armor, Mark. That makes no sense for a kid.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna make my EMT carry a sub machine gun... for, you know, zombie precautions... sucks whenever your trying to drive a few bodies to the morgue and the next thing you know, they're jumping out of their body bags trying to eat your brains!
