Here is where you can ask general question or have posts related to our d20 Modern/Apocalypse game.
Just so you guys know here are the stats of the FN P-90s some of you are carrying: 2d8 Ballistic Damage, 40ft range, 19-20/x2 critical, Semi and Full Automatic fire, 50 box magazine, Purchase DC (not that it matters) 21, Restricted (+2) The P-90 is considered a masterwork weapon due to its quality, granting the wielder a +1 on attack rolls. Also the ammunition of the P-90 is unique and hard to come by and thus expensive. The P-90 also sports a small flashlight capable of illuminating a 10-foot cone in front of the wielder.

There should be health power ups over dead enemies. Roll a percentage die, 20% chance of a health power up which stays there for 1d3 rounds. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Alright well I finally decided to finalize the stats of the P-90, going with my original decision of 2d6 damage. So final stats-
2d6 Ballistic damage, 40ft range, 19-20/x2 critical, Semi and Automatic Fire, 50 box magazine, Purchase DC 21, Restricted +2 The FN P-90 sports a small light that provides a 10 foot cone of illumination. The FN P-90 is considered a Masterwork weapon, and therefore provides a +1 equipment bonus to attack rolls.
The FN P-90 uses a specific type of ammo, a similar piece of ammunition is produced to provide armor penetration, this Ammo has a purchase DC of 10 (Military Restricition +3) and deals 2d6-1 damage and provides a +1 bonus to attack rolls against people wearing armor. Regular P-90 ammunition has a Purchas DC of 9.

The group today was introduced to the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon, or SAW. Though it's caliber suggests a 2d8 approach I personally feel that the amount of lead it pumps into the air makes it 2d10, at least. 2d10 damage, 30ft, 19-20/x2 Critical, Automatic fire, 200 box Magazine, Purchase DC 18, Military (+3) Requires 15 Strength to fire without bipod. When firing without bipod and required strength you take a -4 penalty, and must make balance checks (DC 15) after firing to see if you stagger about and require to adjust yourself the next round (requiring a balance check of DC 15 and standard action).

Alright, so then we have an upcoming campaign (still like 3 or 4 sessions away) but soon enough that you should all be thinking of a modern character. Remember when thinking of a modern character do not think class wise, think of a character concept. The game will begin in LA so you have a wide range to draw from, movie stars, gangsters, police officers, business men, computer guys, military, high school students, mechanics, librarians, scientists, and so on. The area itself has a wide range of people that could be from around there, all levels of economic oppurtunity, all walks of life, and remember you could happen to be just someone else from the world who happens to be visiting Los Angeles. A reporter covering a story, a computer nerd from Silicon Valley helping install new programs or computers in some studio, a person on vacation, a crazy person! You can be anything really... Just start thinking.

I had a great idea: Safari Huntsman! You know, the classic hunter guy, complete with thick glasses, the greyish shirt and pants, and the hat. He'll be a dilettante, just roaming the Earth fueled by his passion for hunting various things. Maybe even man a few times, alive and soon to be dead specimens. Of course, he's got a big gun, like an HK G3 or something.

Actually a G3 is probably the last gun a Big Game Hunter would use. You would need a truly big gun, meaning something high caliber for the express purpose of going through the thick hides of elephants or rhinos, or taking out a tiger in a shot. For example, the civilian version of Barett Light Fifty, or a Winchester 94. I know someone statted up the kind of big bore guns used to take down bears and moose, I'll look around for it. Also remember you do start at Level 1.

The Barret Light Fifty looks good. Even though it's a sniper rifle, would I be able to use it like a normal gun, as in just point and shoot? And I have taken into account level 1.

Yea, you can do that with any gun. The point is not what the gun is but the size of it's bullets. Shotguns are also commonly used.

Yeah, but they need to be reloaded so often. Even with Quick Reload it's a move action. The Sawed-off Shotgun looked cool, though. But I don't think that would really be used for hunting.
And I shall call him Martin von Nostrand, after Kramer's alter ego on Seinfeld. Just seems like a good name.

Well that's what you get for using a big bore weapon, besides those can generally take things down in a hit or two.

A fuzzy bunny, yes. A horde of undead humanoids? I'm doubtful.

It's been 13 days. Surely at least one of you thought up a concept by now.
Oh, and I'm gonna go Tough 1/Fast 2/Tough 1/Daredevil as much as I feel like. I figure that a safari huntsman has to be able to survive out in the bush, be able to get away from the stray animal that he misses, and sometimes needs to have some lucky breaks.
