[He will take it like a man. He will, however, reserve his right to regret that decision.]

((Heh, I doubt it's a regretful decision, only 10 Stun, 2 Body vs ED, and no this isn't some 2d6 attack it was a really really bad roll. Marston's action on Phase 4))

[Guess I got lucky.]
The attack causes Marston to briefly flinch, but he quickly recovers, appearing unhurt apart from his slightly singed shirt. Hoping to knock out the first intruder before dealing with the second, Marston unleashes a powerful kick to the chest.
[Roundhouse, hits DCV 10 or less, 36 stun, 10 body, DCV is now 6]
If that does indeed drop him, Marston will quickly glance in Natalie's direction to ensure she's okay, then turn to face the second intruder, and beckon her forward.

Mr. Marston's foot quickly roundhouse's the first intruder's face, and the boy drops like a sack of potatoes. Looking back he can see that Natalie has taken cover behind his desk.
((On Phase 6))
The girl backs up and moves her hands about, muttering words and releases another line of fire at Mr. Marston.
((Would you like to abort or just take it?))

[He'll just take it. Also, he'll make a perception check (which succeeds by 2) to determine if the girl is using a focus to cast her magic.]

[Whoops, I forgot to ask how far away she was. This'll assume I can reach her with a 5" move. If not I may have to do something...fancy.]
Staggering a bit from the blast, Marston charges after the girl (since she apparently didn't want to bring the fight to him) and launches a flying kick at her head.

The girl only blinks as Mr. Marston clears the space between them and as his foot comes flying at her face all she can say is, "Shit." She crumples to the ground from Mr. Marston's assault, and he notices that she is bleeding slightly.
((Yeah, even rolling with the punch wouldn't have really helped her so she takes it and goes down. Combat over.))

[Question: does the school have surveillance cameras where this happened?]
Well that was considerably less than smooth. I guess I better do my best to try and resolve this.
Mr. Marston does the following actions, in order: -If it looks like either intruder is going to wake up, make sure that doesn't happen. He will try and pull his punch if he has to provide some 'coercion'. Alternatively, he might consider tying them up if he has some rope around and it looks like more punching will kill them, although he'd like to avoid that. -Carry the girl in from the hallway to the classroom -Spend 1 minute trying to stop the girl's bleeding. [This gives a +2 to Paramedics. The roll succeeds by 2.] While that's happening, get on the phone with the custodial staff, and see if they can send over someone to patch up a wall. He'll hold off on calling security until there starts to be a commotion if there isn't already.
While he's doing all of that, and isn't on the phone with anyone, he starts up a conversation with Natalie. "Sometimes it's not your magic you have to watch out for. Usually it's the other guys - drives some people crazy, you know." Pointing to the disc the boy was carrying, he says, "You wouldn't happen to know anything about this, would you? Or, for that matter, have a brilliant cover story for all this?"

((This is a modern American school, of course there are no security cameras))
Mr. Marston is able to get the two intruding students and secure them in his classroom, after getting them settled he is able to stop the girl's bleeding. The custodial staff responds that someone will be up later to look at the wall, possibly after school, most likely because they don't believe Mr. Marston's claims of a man-sized hole. Natalie picks up the disk, and after inspecting it for a few minutes says, "It looks like, a tracking device." And she then shakes her head, "I have no idea what we could begin to say about this kind of stuff."
((Also could I get a Perception and Deduction check?))

[Perception check succeeds by 2, Deduction succeeds by 1.]
After pausing for a moment, Mr. Marston says "If this is really a tracking device, it must be the case that someone is tracking these students. Perhaps it is the same person who sent them to attack me. But who would have such a motive?"
[And what sort of modern American school has no cameras? East had them everywhere. So did Stony Brook, although that's a university. Same principles though.]

((Fair point, however, if there were cameras no one seems to have noticed what happened))
Mr. Marston notices that the tracking device seems to be able to lock in to the magical book, it is most likely not an emitter but a receiver, and it tracks the book. Natalie coughs when Mr. Marston goes on about who would want to attack him, and then says, "Uhm, I don't think they were here for you Mr. Marston, they're uh...well, they're the ones who gave me the book."

[Typically these sorts of things are not actively monitored, but the tapes are stored in case an incident happens, in which case they can be reviewed.]
Mr. Marston scowls, angered by the fact that he was apparently missing some very important facts. "So what's the deal with these guys, then?", Marston says, poking one of the unconscious intruders with his toe. "Why did they follow you and try and hunt you down? Why did they give you a book, if they were only going to track you down later? And what's in that book, anyway?"

Natalie shrugs and then says almost apologetically, "Well, they said I wasn't supposed to talk about it..."

Pressing harder, Marston asks, "Well, why not? What was in that book that they didn't want others to find out - and then wanted so badly to protect that they would hunt you down when you talked about it?"
