"Well," Jennifer says, "At first it was kind of like, cool..." "Yeah," Kathleen explains, "She could buy us beer and helped us throw some parties but then like..." "She just never stopped," Jennifer said, "Things just started to get weird. We had no idea how to stop her." "Yeah," Kathleen says, "Thank you."

Arkadi shakes his head, trying to brush past this insanity with as much civility as possible.
"Well, hopefully some sort of lesson was learned. But I'm not done with you yet. No one is going to believe.....that," he says, pointing at the unconscious Fade. "But they will believe that you two have been sneaking off during classes. And if you want me to conveniently forget I find you here, I need you to show me how you learned to open portal, then close it. And, I hope it goes without saying, you'll never do this again. You were lucky that you summoned something so.....benign."

The girls both nod, clearly ashamed of their actions. With Arkadi's help they gather up the creature, and sneak her down into the basement. After chucking her through the portals, the girls calmly close the portal through a relatively long ritual process requiring both of them to murmur incantations and wave their hands about. When they're done they turn a slim volume over to Arkadi showing him the passage where they learned the opening and closing rituals.

Further questioning would yield that the girls had obtained the manual from the girl's locker room, having found it lying there as if forgotten by someone, or having fallen out of an open gym bag or backpack. A cursory investigation of the girl's locker room during closing hours would yield no further results.
Arkadi, satisfied that the events and his lecturing will suffice to prevent renewed attempts by Jennifer and Kathleen to tamper with the Veil, decides to close the case for the time being. However, he holds on to the small volume, intent on examining it more closely on his return home: If he could master it, having a doorway beyond the Veil might come in handy, should this trend of weirdness continue.
